Hotel Moxy

Menlo Park Hotel Group LLC is proposing to demolish an existing one-story non-medical office building located at 3723 Haven Avenue and construct a new seven-story, 163-room hotel, approximately 58,000 square feet in size and consisting of two stories of podium parking and five stories of hotel rooms. The ground floor would contain a lobby space and coffee shop, in addition to podium parking. The third floor would contain hotel rooms and a bar and lounge area that would also include an outdoor rooftop garden. The ground floor lobby space and coffee shop, along with the outdoor rooftop garden on the third floor, would be publicly accessible.

The project would comply with the City's below market rate housing requirement through the payment of an in-lieu fee. Additionally, one heritage tree has been approved for removal due to health and two
non-heritage street trees have also been approved for removal.

The overall proposal would be comprised of:

• Buildings: 57,959 square feet
• Hotel rooms: 163 rooms
• Parking: 129 spaces (124 spaces within the parking podium and five surface parking spaces)
  
  

Current status

The Hotel Moxy project is currently undergoing demolition work at the site, with construction anticipated to start in Spring 2026. The Planning Commission adopted resolutions approving the following proposals:

• November 14, 2022: Adoption of the Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration and approval of a use permit and architectural control request for an eight-story, 163 hotel room hotel.
• January 8, 2024: Approval of a use permit revision and architectural control revision request to remove one parking level, increase the overall building height by six inches, lower the rooftop deck from the fourth to the third floor, resulting in a height decrease of four feet, reconfigure the parking spaces to utilize tandem parking through a valet service, and complete minor building footprint changes, comprehensive landscaping changes, and comprehensive material and color changes, in addition to a reduction in gross floor area by 55 square feet.
