Vehicular Closure on Blake Street at Middle Avenue

The closure of vehicular access along Blake Street at Middle Avenue is now in effect.

In line with the Middle Avenue complete street project, the City Council authorized the temporary closure of Blake Street at Middle Avenue on Oct. 18, 2022. This deliberate measure is focused on improving safety by discontinuing vehicular access to and from Blake Street at Middle Avenue, while preserving access for emergency vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists.

This particular stretch of Blake Street, vital for pedestrians and cyclists, connects Middle Avenue and College Avenue, serving as a direct route to Nealon Park. The vehicular closure is designed to establish a secure environment for pedestrians and bicyclists. Importantly, motor vehicles are no longer permitted to access Blake Street at Middle Avenue. Instead, convenient routes to Middle Avenue and College Avenue are available via El Camino Real or University Drive.
