Menlo Park Municipal Water owns and operates two water storage reservoirs, a 2.0 and 3.5 million gallon reservoir. The reservoirs service the upper zone in Sharon Heights, providing safe and reliable potable water to customers in the area. Menlo Park Municipal Water inspects the reservoirs daily, in addition to water quality sampling on a weekly basis. Both reservoirs were thoroughly cleaned and inspected in 2021 and will be serviced every three years to maintain water quality in the water distribution system.

As the reservoirs were due for maintenance, the City has contracted Inland Potable Services, Inc. to provide cleaning and inspection services for both water reservoirs. With dry suits to prevent contamination of the water supply and a disinfection process for all equipment entering the tank, the certified divers removed sediment and debris and checked for any damages on both the interior and exterior of the reservoirs. The water within the reservoirs were monitored for drops in chlorine levels during the cleaning and any removed debris was properly disposed of. Regular management of the reservoirs ensure customers receive safe water from the City’s water distribution system.
